Why You Should Submit Your Website to Google (and How to Do It)

Inbound marketing relies on creating useful content that attracts readers to your site and establishes you and your team as leading thinkers in the industry. Sometimes, however, creating great content isn’t enough; we need a little help getting the word out. One of the techniques used to ensure more visitors is search engine optimization, often called “SEO.” One of the ways to enhance SEO is by submitting your site to Google for indexing. We’d like to show you why you should submit your website to Google, as well as how to do it!

Why You Should Submit Your Website to Google (and How to Do It)

Advantages of Submitting Your Website to Google

We won’t dive into the complex system that Google uses to find, gauge, and choose websites; just know that there are many different criteria used, including keyword density, links, and site speed. Google will discover and analyze your content quicker if it is registered with their system. While they will eventually find and “crawl” your site if you don’t submit it, manually submitting the site will speed the process.

If you’re not sure if your site is already submitted, simply go to Google and type in “site:” with your URL and no spaces. If no pages are indexed, Google will let you know that no information was found.

Why You Should Submit Your Website to Google and Other Search Engines

While Google is the big fish in the search engine pond, you should still take advantage of other sites, including Yahoo and Bing. Having your site submitted to these search engines will increase your potential traffic and lead to better long-term visitor numbers.

How to Submit Your Site to Google

If you have never submitted your site, the first step is to verify that you are indeed the owner through Google’s verification process. Simply type in the URL, check the “I am Not a Robot” button, and submit your request for verification. Google will then go through the process of verifying your site and indexing your pages.

That’s it! That’s all it takes to submit your new site to Google!

If you have an existing site with numerous new pages, then you’ll need to submit an updated sitemap. The sitemap can be submitted by going to Google Search Console along the left, then using the Crawl tab to find Sitemaps. Then submit your sitemap URL and you’re all set for success with search engine results!

With these simple steps, you can ensure your site is submitted properly and indexed quickly! It’s easy and effective; this is why you should submit your website to Google!

Basic SEO Techniques for Inbound Marketing Success

Basic SEO techniques for inbound marketing success is a reliable process for gaining a strong site profile in non-paid search engine results.  Everyone knows SEO and the vital part it plays in one’s inbound marketing success efforts. It only takes a few basic steps to help refine your efforts for success and greater ranking results.

Great SEO techniques and design for inbound marketing improves ratings and pushes traffic to your site. SEO helps search engines see your site as reliable and credible. Creating the best SEO practices shows you care about your audience and their needs.  It shows you care about giving great customer service to solve problems, respond to questions, or offer expert advice.

A. Content

Content is still ‘king’ for inbound marketing success and is a vital element for increasing traffic to your site.  Make sure your site is up-to-date, offers useful data, and is user-friendly. These tips will improve how search engines view your site, your products and your services.

B. Keywords

Keywords are what brings traffic to your site and boosts inbound marketing success. Having the ‘right’ keywords means that you are able to get more attention to your site and showing your expertise in your business niche. Finding the right keywords will help push your site higher on the list of results and let you stand out above others. Just remember – don’t over-do it! Google looks at keyword’s meaning and intent, rather than the amount of keywords used. Check out Searchmetrics’ 2015 Ranking Factors report that shows keywords are useless without relevance, structure, meaning and intent.

C. Integration

For great inbound marketing success, you need to create blogs and content that attract, engage and convert traffic into leads and sales.  Rich media, like interactive tools, videos and infographics will let your audience ‘see’ what you have. It will show them why you are exactly what they need. A well-founded presence on social media ties your content to search results. This will increase exposure and reputation even faster than content and keywords alone.

D. Mobility

In today’s world, everyone is on the go. This means that a computer is not the only way potential customers will use to find products and services. You need to make sure your webpage is configured in a way that ensures it will be viewed on each type of mobile device as readable and easy to navigate. Customers will not be back if videos or content don’t work right, have to deal with faulty redirects, or are slow to load and navigate. While it may take some extra effort, making your site SEO-mobile-ready will definitely give you an ‘edge’ in your inbound marketing success. Google offers some great tips on getting your site mobile friendly.

SEO is still a vital element in improving your options for better results and higher website traffic. Inbound marketing success is based on how you create a viable roadmap for others to follow. This will then work to convert those leads into sales, repeat sales, and boosting your loyalty index.

Your ‘ultimate’ plan is to provide exceptional customer service by being the ‘expert go-to’ that people trust, rely upon, and always end up coming to ‘you’ first, rather than your competition. 602 Creative Studio has a team of experts that will help you make sure your website is optimized and mobile-ready. They also know and understand the importance of SEO integration for inbound marketing success and their blogs What is Inbound Marketing? and What Should You Expect from an SEO Company? are just a ‘sneak peek’ at their expertise in help customers improve and boost their inbound results.

What Should You Expect from an SEO Company?

If you’re struggling to get your website ranked well on search engines, hiring an SEO company or well-rounded inbound marketing company may be your best bet.

What is SEO?

According to Rand Fishkin, founder of Moz, “Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the practice of increasing the quantity and quality of the traffic that you earn through the organic results in search engines.”

What Should You Expect from an SEO Company?

Every SEO company will have different processes and procedures for onboarding & servicing clients. Furthermore, those processes and procedures will likely be, and should be, adapted to fit each specific client’s needs and expectations.

However, you should expect certain actions and services to be the standard practice for any SEO Company.

Note: If you’re working with an inbound marketing agency, like 602 Creative Studio, you can expect much than this bare bones approach to Search Engine Optimization.

1. Market Research

When you begin working with an SEO company, they will quickly start working on market research. During this time, they will be studying your specific business, similar businesses, businesses in adjacent markets, and market influencers. They will uncover trends and strive to learn as much as possible about your target audience.

2. Keyword Research

Once the SEO company has conducted ample market research, they will use their findings to build a massive list of potential keywords and keyword phrases for targeting. They will use a keyword planning tool, like HubSpot’s Keyword Planner, to find the most effective keywords & keyword phrases.

3. Kick-Off Meeting

The point of a kick-off meeting is to introduce key players, determine best means of communication, present market research findings and keywords, establish goals, and set deadlines for those goals.

If your working with a complete inbound marketing agency, they will likely provide all of your website and social media content, including well-planned, highly-targeted blog posts and social media publishing.

If you aren’t working with a full-service inbound marketing agency, the SEO company should, at least, provide content suggestions and/or a potential content calendar.

4. On Page SEO

Each and every page within your website should be optimized for search engines. A high quality SEO company will use their expertise and apply all ensure that all of the pages within your website are aligned with on page SEO best practices.

5. Link Building

The more links you have directed to your website; the more search engines will notice. But it’s not as easy as it seems. In fact, it’s quite complicated. A link building strategy should include content, connections, and collaboration.

Have no fear. Your SEO company will provide the guidance and/or services necessary to accomplish link building success.

6. Reporting

The means of communication, standards for reporting, and all deadlines should be made clear and agreed upon during kick-off meeting. Open communication and honest reporting should be expected from any SEO company

7. Adjusting

There is always room for improvement and any highly-detailed report will prove this to be true. Your SEO company should be willing and able to adjust their plan accordingly.

Inbound Marketing & SEO

As mentioned above, an inbound marketing agency will provide a full range of services aimed at not only generating leads and attention, but generating the right kind of leads and attention, through SEO, blogging, and social media management.

An inbound marketing agency will also help you turn those leads in customers by developing high-performance content offers, calls-to-action, and landing pages.

Link Building – Tips from an SEO Company

Links are an effective way to enhance your SEO strategy.

The more links you have directed to your site, the more search engines will notice, so generating links has become a major topic among digital marketers and SEO companies.

Links function like a vote. Each one says “yea” to your site, giving search engines a signal that your little piece of the web is worth checking out.

Link Building: Tips from an SEO Company

Link building can be tricky though. In the past, robotic methods that focused on generating thousands of automated links from low-quality sites were the norm.

Now, however, you need a real strategy that involves content, connections, and collaboration…

Quality over Quantity

One good blog article is better than 100 bad blog articles. If you want people to notice your material and link to your site, you have to give them a reason to act. Always focus on quality over quantity and you have the foundation for a fantastic link-building strategy.

Leverage Social Media

Social media is one of the top ways to increase links to your website, so using this free and far-reaching tool is simply a must. According to Moz, a leading search engine research team, social media “signals” (comments, likes, re-tweets, etc) are treated differently by search engines, but they are a factor in the link-building game nonetheless.

Guest Blogging

This is one of the most effective ways to get the quality links you want, but it’s not easy and it can be very time consuming. Essentially, you give a website or blog a piece of content in exchange for a link back to your site. This strategy also helps spread your public perception as an expert in the field, especially if you are guest-blogging on highly regarded sites.

For most guest blogs, you’ll also have control over the “anchor text.” This is the wording that goes into the link, and it’s a factor that search engines give particular importance to.

Testimonials

If you have loyal customers, you have the chance for testimonials. If you have testimonials, you have the chance for link building. Ask your best customers and clients if they would leave a testimonial on local and national rating sites. While they’re at it, would they be kind enough to leave a link to your site? A couple of links on popular review sites can go a long ways.

Internal Links

The goal of link building is to get connections from trusted sites. Why not your own? These types of links will be given a different priority than inbound links, but they will still register on a search engine’s radar. Plus, you always have control of the anchor text. Just be aware that you can’t load your site with internal links; that’s too much like spam, and search engines hate spam!

Respond to Comments

Engagement breeds linking, so the more you respond to comments and interact with your audience, the better your chance for inbound links. The nature of your interaction will depend on your business, but always remember to stay positive and engaging with your audience.

What You Can Expect from an SEO Company?

An SEO company can help with a lot of different campaigns, including link building, blogging, optimization, and more.

Keyword Research – Tips from an SEO Company

You know that content is king, but do you know where to start.

Creating a game plan for landing pages and blog content can seem like a daunting task, but if you take it step-by-step, it is much easier than you think.

The first step is finding the right keywords. Through basic research and a little inward thinking, you can find the perfect keywords to make your content soar…

Keyword Research Tips from an SEO Company

Start by Looking Inward

This is the foundation of your keyword search. Start by looking at your business or services and make a list of potential words that can be associated with your company. For example, a tire shop will obviously start with “tires.” (Brilliant insight, huh?) But they can go even deeper with “tire repair” “rotation” “wheel balance” or “flat tire.”

Taking a good look at your business and creating a list of relevant keywords, regardless of rankings, potential, and other analytics, is the first step.

Use Google Word Suggestions

When you type a search into Google, the site will automatically bring up suggestions for your search. Use this feature to your advantage. Google offers this feature based on what other people are looking for, so when you see a suggestion that relates to your business, mark it down as a potential keyword for your content. Wordstream, a fellow SEO company, also suggests using an underscore during searches, which Google will fill in with the most relevant or popular words.

Look at Google’s Related Keywords

Want even more suggestions for keywords? Use Google’s related searches. If you sell fishing rods, enter that keyword into Google and scroll down to the very bottom of the page. You’ll find a box titled “Searches related to fishing rods” with eight different suggestions. As of writing this article, Google’s suggestion include “fishing rods for kids,” “fishing rods reviews,” and “bass fishing rods.” Hey, those are three good ideas for a blog post! Once again, you’re using Google to key in on the most popular keywords, or in this case, long-tail keywords…

Put Some Effort into Long-Tail Keywords

If you’re going to do some keyword research, you need to understand the basic concept of “long-tail keywords.” Long-tails are phrases or groups of words that are more specific and detailed. Generally, long-tail keywords are used by a consumer who is deeper in the buying process.

For example, if someone is searching for “Ford F-150,” they may be curious about the new model, looking for basic information, or simply researching the pickup’s history. However, if someone is searching for “2016 Ford F-150 Platinum price,” they are more likely to be seriously considering a purchase. Identifying and locating long-tail keywords helps you target more motivated buyers.

Often the most effective long-tail keywords will be your service plus “in (your town or area).” Going back to our tire shop example, if they were in Lansing Michigan, an obvious long-tail would be “tire repair in Lansing, Michigan.” Simple, right?

Use Research Sources for Gauging a Keyword

The truth is, not all keywords are the same. Some are highly competitive and dominated by major brands. To be frank, you have very little chance of top rankings with these. A car dealership in Billings, Montana has little chance of first-page rankings for “Ford F-150,” but they may have a chance at ranking for “trucks for sale in Billings.”

Determining which keyword is best is often the most challenging task. If you are using HubSpot’s innovative software, then you’ve already got everything you need to find the right keywords. Otherwise, Moz, one of the leading search engine research companies, suggest using four tools, Google Adwords, Google Trends, Microsoft Bing Ad Intelligence, and Wordtracker’s Keyword Demand to gauge the potential for each keyword.

The key (pun intended) is to find words that have high searches with low competition.

On Page SEO: Tips from an SEO Company

With the Internet becoming a part of our lives more and more every day and even every hour, competition for attention is fierce.

The most successful companies show up first in search engines with a little help from Search Engine Optimization.

There is a wealth of information to sift through when it comes to SEO trends and best practices, but this is what you really need to know about on page SEO as only an experienced SEO company can explain.

Why is On Page SEO Important?

Top companies know the tricks to gain the greatest attention for their websites by building their reputations through search engine optimization, widely known as SEO. A better, more well-known, stronger reputation equals more traffic to the site, and more traffic, of course, means more business and more dollars.

As an inbound marketing and SEO company, we can confirm that understanding Google’s algorithm and applying those standards & requirements to your on page seo strategy is critical to your website’s success.

What is On Page SEO?

In search engine optimization, on-page optimization refers to factors that have an impact on your Web site or Web page listing in natural search results. These factors are controlled by you or by coding on your page.

  • Examples of on page optimization include actual HTML code, meta tags, keyword placement and keyword density.

On the other hand, off-page optimization refers to factors that have an effect on your website or webpage listing in natural search results. These factors are off-site in that they are not controlled by you or the coding on your page.

  • Examples of off page optimization include things such as link popularity and page rank.

Both are important factors in reputation and relationship-building for your site and the overall business or organization.

What is Google’s SEO Algorithm?

According to an article from Search Engine Journal, “Google’s newly released 160-page Search Quality Evaluator Guidelines  is the most extensive, insightful look into how the Google algorithm works.”

The article by Marc Purtell also states that:

“… based on the importance of a webpage having a high level of trust, there are some new insights on best practices to ensure the trust value is displayed: include author/contributor names and links to bios; cite information with credible sources and link externally to trusted resources; and ensure navigation is intuitive and include universal links to privacy policies, about pages and contact pages.”

On Page SEO Tips for 2016

At this point, you’re aware that Google is constantly changing its algorithm and staying up-to-date is critical to your SEO strategy. These are the most important on page SEO elements for 2016.

1. Quality Content

Individuals coming to your website are looking for information, not gimmicks or sales tactics. Finding out what your viewers are looking for and giving it to them using strong resources is among the best practices. Just like in traditional, in-person businesses, if customers trust you, they are likely to come back. The same principles apply with your websites.

2. Keywords

When people need information, they use search engines such as Google. When they do so, they are most likely to enter the search phrase using common, everyday language. However, they will not simply search for one or two words.

These days, Internet users are likely to enter an entire question or phrase into the search engine. Therefore, it is important for you to know what users are looking for and use these long-tail keywords in your content, as the search engine is more likely to find them that way. Remember, competition is fierce, so be specific about the content you are providing without being overly complicated or wordy.

According to Moz, your keywords should be “uniquely valuable”.

The article explains that unique content means that those words, in that order, don’t appear anywhere else on the web. Unique value, he says, refers to the “usefulness and takeaways derived by visitors to the page.”

“Many pages can be ‘valuable’, but few provide a truly unique kind of value – one that can’t be discovered on other pages targeting that phrase.”

3. Outbound Links

Building a solid reputation is one of the most important search engine optimization practices. One way to build the reputation is – in tune with giving your viewers what they are looking for – to provide links to additional quality resources for them.

Not only does that help your viewer, it also makes your website more beneficial, trustworthy and reliable. Just like in common conversation, you might say, “My hairdresser, Jane Doe, told me the best shampoo to use,” the same principles apply on your website. Your hairdresser would be a reliable source in this case, which reinforces readers’ belief that they are getting reliable information. Online, however, not only can you provide the hairdresser’s name, but you can also provide a link to that hairdresser’s site.

4. Inbound Links

With time and as you build your reputation, your site will become one of those reliable sources, and other sites will link to your site for that information. When other organizations link to your sites, the links are known as inbound links, and this is what you want; now, more viewers are coming to your site – leading to an even greater reputation, more links, more shares, more customers, more business, and more dollars.

Social Media Marketing with Twitter – A Beginner’s Guide

What is Twitter?

Twitter came into our world in 2006 and has grown at an incredible rate since launching. According to Wikipedia, “Twitter has more than 500 million users, out of which more than 302 million are active users”. With such great popularity, Twitter offers social media marketers a unique opportunity to get their brand and message across to various customer segments.

The micro blogging site allows you to send out tweets (messages) of 140 characters or less. These tweets can be read by all those who are following you. There is no limit to the number of tweets that you can send, a visual image can accompany your tweet and you can also post a link to your website while you are at it.

How Does Twitter Work?

While using Twitter, social media marketing experts have to use the keywords carefully. These keywords could be your company’s name, your brand name, or words that best describe your business or your industry. Twitter offers the option of using hashtags (keywords preceded by the pound or number sign) that link one tweet to another and can in fact, be used time after time to bring continuity to your tweets. It allows your audience/followers to keep track of your messages and helps you network closely with those followers who retweet your posts. The keywords, handles and hashtags help you in building relationships with loyal followers too.

How Can I Use Twitter to Grow My Business?
With just 140 characters per tweet, Twitter forces you to choose what is the most important aspect of your social media marketing campaign. Whether you are launching a new product, promoting existing products or offering gifts and rewards to repeat customers, you will need to be precise and correct in your tweets.

You can add value to your tweets by sharing a link to your website page that lists more details on new programs. One of the greatest advantages of using Twitter is that you can get great mileage out of your marketing messages by spending just a few minutes on this site.

Twitter can also be quite effective for lead generation as well as help you build lists of prospective customers to whom you can later send direct mails. By keeping your followers engaged through interesting content and visual imagery in your tweets, you are building unconscious links in their minds and ensuring that they stay invested in your ideas.

Following businesses that are leaders and/or influencers in your industry, will help you better understand your target audience and can also help you to form mutually beneficial relationships with those influencers.

Don’t Ignore Twitter

One of the biggest mistakes a business can make is to ignore social media as a marketing tool, especially Twitter. Even those businesses that have existed for years without playing the social media game, risk losing touch with their customers if they avoid using social media to communicate and promote their brand.

What is SEO?

What is SEO? You’ve probably heard it in the office. Maybe it’s been mentioned in marketing meetings or brought up by tech-savvy employees. It sounds pretty slick, but what the heck is it? As a digital marketing agency, those of us at 602 Creative Studio make it our job to stay up-to-date and informed on the ever changing world of SEO and to share our knowledge to help others succeed.

SEO stands for “Search Engine Optimization,” and it’s the process of getting search engines like Google, Bing, and Yahoo to notice your website and put it in front of online users. While there is paid traffic, SEO deals with unpaid clicks, often referred to as “organic,” “natural,” or “earned” results.

How Search Engines Work:
Each search engine uses a complex computer language, known as an algorithm, that searches the web for keywords, with the goal of delivering relevant websites to users. The search engines literally scan the entire web while looking for the right sites.

Keywords are a major factor in search engines, but it’s not just words in the body of the page. The algorithm will also scan for the words in titles, image descriptions, headers, and more. According to Moz, “Ranking for the right keywords can make or break your website.” Links are also an important factor, as search engines will give more weight to sites that have lots of links from reputable sources.

Search engines are very good at what they do: finding relevant content for users. They are so good at their jobs that over 90% of web traffic uses search engines. Of those using search engines, over 80% are on Google, making it the big dog in SEO efforts.

The way a search engine works, however, is always changing. Google is constantly adjusting, making images more or less important, dropping the relevance of keywords, or changing the algorithm to identify unscrupulous practices like link-purchasing or keyword stuffing.

The key to a search engine’s long-term success is delivering websites that people want. For this reason, creating interesting, engaging, and shareable content is vital to SEO results. Not only should you make it easy for a search engine to find you, you should fill your site with content that people enjoy.

How to Optimize Your Website for SEO:

We could write a giant book on SEO practices, (although there are plenty out there already) but for the sake of this article, we’ll just go over the basics. First of all, you should make sure your website has the keywords you need. While actually filling your site with keywords seems to be getting less and less important, keywords still matter. If you are a plumber, you should obviously have “plumber” and “plumbing” written a few times on your site. Don’t, however, just write plumber repeatedly. Google knows lazy SEO efforts when it sees it.

Another important element to a site is activity. People want websites that are fresh and new, and having an old website that hasn’t changed in years can be a real drawback to SEO results. This is one area where maintaining a blog may help your SEO campaign.

Without doubt, Search Engine Optimization should be an integral part of your Strategic Marketing Plan, if you want to be successful as a business. Sure it takes a little extra effort, but learning and implementing SEO best practices will be worth every minute in the end.
